Privacy Policy

This policy explains how the Dupliclean Windows desktop application handles information.

Last updated: September 11, 2026

1. Local file scanning

Dupliclean scans only folders that you select. It reads file metadata and file contents as needed to identify possible duplicates and verify matching files with cryptographic hashing. File names, paths, and contents are processed locally on your device and are not uploaded by Dupliclean.

If you confirm a cleanup, selected files are sent to the Windows Recycle Bin. Scan settings and aggregate usage totals may be stored locally on your device.

2. Optional Pro license requests

Dupliclean does not automatically transmit a license request. If you choose to request a Pro license, the app displays a request block for you to copy and send manually by email.

The request block contains the Dupliclean version and edition, a hashed device fingerprint, installation type, operating-system version, device architecture, system locale, the locally recorded total number of files cleaned, and the request timestamp. It does not contain file names, file paths, or file contents.

The hashed device fingerprint is derived from device and operating-system identifiers and is used to issue and verify a device-bound license. The other request information is used to process the license request and provide related support.

3. Transmission and retention

License information leaves your device only when you choose to send the request block through your email provider. That transmission is governed by your email provider's privacy practices.

License-request emails and issued-license records may remain in the developer's email account or locally selected license-record folders until they are deleted. Dupliclean does not operate an online licensing database and does not set an automatic deletion schedule for these records. You may contact us to request deletion of a license-request email or associated licensing record, subject to records that must be retained for legal or security purposes.

4. Analytics, advertising, and third parties

Dupliclean does not include advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs. The app does not sell personal information. Apart from an email provider used when you voluntarily send a license request, the current app does not transmit information to an external service.

5. Your choices

You can use Dupliclean's scanning and duplicate-review features without sending a license request. You control which folders are scanned, which files are selected, and whether a license request is sent. Local settings, statistics, and license files can be removed by deleting Dupliclean's locally stored application data or uninstalling the app where Windows removes that data.

6. Changes and contact

This policy may be updated when Dupliclean's behavior or legal requirements change. The revised date will be shown on this page.
